Water Conservation
The overuse of water in maintaining landscapes and athletic fields results in many kinds of pollution as well as wasting the resource. By improving how efficiently we use water, we can provide for agriculture and industry, protect the environment, and ensure that there is plenty of clean water for our future generations.
Facts About Water Use:

-On average 70% of all household water is used outdoors on lawns and athletic fields.
-There are over 30 million acres of green lawns in the U.S.
-Seventy million pounds of pesticide get applied to home lawns, trees, and shrubs a year, polluting groundwater and sending phosphates and nitrates into lakes and streams.
-Every day 7.8 billion gallons of water is devoted to outdoor uses, mostly landscaping and athletic fields, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
-Scientists note that reservoir levels are dropping as cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, New Mexico, California, Florida, Georgia and many more continue to expand. The Southwest drought has become so severe that even the desert plant life is dying.
-It takes 2.5 billion gallons of water to support the world's population of 4.7 billion people. Ironically, this is the same amount of water 2.5 billion gallons that is used every day to irrigate the world's golf courses.
-Some 54 million people mow their lawns each week in the summer, using 800 million gallons of gas a year. More than 9 percent of urban air pollution comes from gas-powered lawn mowers.
-The gas emissions and yard, athletic field clippings are one of the largest landfill contributions to the greenhouse effect.
-Because these installations are no longer natural grass, synthetic turf will also keep un-calculable tons of fertilizers and pesticides away from our children, pets, eco-system and our drinking water.
-The use of synthetic turf has many applications for use. Some water restrictions have been mandatory in many parts of the country that water rates have risen over 80% in the Southwest as water resources are diminishing. Synthetic turf allows you to conserve water, save money, while creating a beautiful and safe alternative for our children and pets.

The U.S. Turf Company’s synthetic turf products are versatile, safe, economical and 100% Recyclable, including our backing, fibers, fall rated playground pad system, putting greens, synthetic lawns, and synthetic athletic fields which helps preserve our natural resources. But it’s the natural look and feel that makes that overwhelming first impression.

Despite the intense media and activist attention and focus by the Government, the public needs to be well informed and is largely unaware of the water problems. The Association of Water Agencies, a coalition of 1470 public water agencies has launched an effort to inform the American people that the Crisis Can Not Be Ignored.
